CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga
– The Provincial Government distributed P3,146,000 to 3,146 Alternative Learning System (ALS) passers across the province.

The Provincial Library, headed by Jasmine Carla Cordero, led the said distribution which was held at various municipal halls on January 30, 31 and February 7.

According to Cordero, the distribution was aimed at recognizing the hardwork of the ALS passers in pursuing their dream of acquiring their diplomas.

“Ito ay in recognition sa pagkakapasa nila sa accreditation and equivalency test na kung saan maaari na silang makapag-enroll sa college or makahanap ng trabaho,” she said.

Of the recipients, 202 came from the first district, 1,278 from the second district, 560 from the third district, 928 from the fourth district, and 178 from other different community learning centers in the province.

The provision of cash incentives to ALS passers was funded  through the gender and development fund of Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan members.

During the distribution, Board Member Pol Balingit assured the non-stop support of the provincial government in the education of all the Kapampangan youth.

“We have several programs in the provincial government that aim to assist the less fortunate Kapampangans who want to access education, so there would be no reason why you should not finish school,” Balingit said.

Sto. Tomas Mayor Gloria “Ninang” Ronquillo, meanwhile, thanked the provincial government for its effort to incentivize her townsfolk who passed the ALS.

The distribution was also attended by Mayor Danilo Guintu and Vice Mayor Boboy Lacap, Masantol; Councillor Vince Flores, Macabebe; Pampanga Liga ng mga Barangay President Renato “Gabby” Mutuc, Councillor Jed Dalusung, and Capalangan Barangay Captain Joselito Ibe, Apalit.

ALS is a parallel learning system in the country that provides a practical option to the existing formal instruction. It serves as an alternate or substitute for those who cannot access formal education in schools.
