ANGELES CITY – Gov. Lilia Pineda has nearly completed the distribution of P21.6 million of financial aid to 108 less privileged villages in Pampanga as part of her government’s efforts to improve the economic and social situations of barangays.
Pineda and Vice Gov. Joseller “Yeng” Guiao on Monday night distributed P200,000 each to seven villages of Mabalacat City, namely, Atlu Bola, Cacutud, Calumpang, Mangalit, Paralayunan, Sapang Balen and Tabun.
The villages in the newly-declared city have an annual budget of less than P1.1 million each similar to the beneficiaries from other towns, including Masantol, Macabebe, Floridablanca, Lubao, Guagua and Porac.
In his speech, Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales expressed gratitude to the “ever hardworking governor.” He urged the barangays leaders to “use prudently” the support of the provincial government.
Pineda and Guiao along with Board Members Crisostomo “Cris’ Garbo and Olga Frances “Fritzie” Dizon and Apalit Mayor Oscar “Jun” Tetangco distributed the checks to Mabalacat City village chiefs who were accompanied by their councilors.
On Tuesday afternoon, Pineda was scheduled to continue the distribution in the City of San Fernando.
In her speech, Pineda said the assistance approved by the provincial board was given to help the villages cope with the recent natural calamities that affected them.
Guiao, for his part, said the “swift and genuine” delivery of basic services was the result of the “harmonious” relationship between the executive and legislative branches of the administration.
Pampanga, considered the regional center of Central Luzon, has 505 villages, excluding the 33 in highly urbanized Angeles City.
