CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Provincial Government of Pampanga distributed nearly ₱7 million in financial assistance to senior citizens and patients with serious illnesses during a program held at the Capitol on May 20. Of the total amount, ₱2.1 million was allocated to 21 Kapampangan senior citizens aged 95 and above, each receiving ₱100,000 in cash aid to help cover expenses such as medicine, food, and other necessities.
The remaining almost ₱5 million was given to cancer patients and those undergoing dialysis treatment as part of the province’s ongoing medical assistance program. Governor-elect Lilia “Nanay” Pineda personally led the distribution of the aid. In her message, she assured beneficiaries that the provincial government would continue to support the elderly and the sick. “Ali da kayu pu paburen.
We will not forsake you.” She also urged the recipients to undergo regular medical checkups and laboratory tests to prevent complications, encouraging them to coordinate with the provincial government’s partner physicians for easier access to medical services.
“Please get regular checkups and coordinate with our doctors so your illnesses can be managed and treated properly,” she said.
The program also included guidance for patients currently undergoing chemotherapy and dialysis, ensuring that they receive medical support under the province’s health initiatives.
The program earned praise from overseas Filipino workers with family members who benefited from the aid. Kimberly Mallari Manas, an OFW based in the United States, expressed her gratitude to the Pinedas for their compassion and continued public service.
“This kind of support is a huge help to our loved ones. Even though we’re far away, we feel at ease knowing they are cared for. Thank you to Nanay Pineda and Governor Delta.”
Nanay Pineda also vowed that in her new term as governor, she will personally visit communities across the province along with elected Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda, to assess the needs of sick and impoverished residents firsthand.
“I will not stay inside the office. We will go out and listen to the people’s needs—but I need the cooperation of every Kapampangan,” she said.
This financial assistance program is part of the provincial government’s comprehensive healthcare and welfare initiatives, which focus on supporting the elderly, the chronically ill, and other vulnerable sectors in Pampanga. Contributed photos
