CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A young Capampangan hoopster won the Most Valuable Player award in the Junior Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (Junior MPBL) Season 1.
Kenjie Moral of the Junior Pampanga Giant Lanterns is the season MVP for the year 2023 in the event held at Amoranto Coliseum, showcasing the league’s commitment to fostering excellence and teamwork among emerging young basketball athletes in the countryside.
Announced during the event is the championship showdown for the last 12 remaining teams in the 14-Under, 16-Under, and 18-Under categories that will compete for the Junior MPBL Season 1 Finals and the awarding ceremony to honor outstanding individual achievements.
The awards consisted of MP Choice Award; Season MVP; and for each of the three categories, the Mythical 1st Team, Sportsmanship Award, Homegrown Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Team Owner of the Year, Team Manager of the Year, and the Most Viewed Player on Social Media Award.
The three full scholarship awardees in 18U category were Gambrinus Gimpaya and Earl John Quaterno from Team Batang Maynila, and Chanzey Billips Garcia from Junior MPBL Leyte
Junior MPBL partners with the University of Makati to give the scholars free dorm accommodation, allowance, and subsidy for other school miscellaneous fees.
