Candidates for 2016 sign peace covenant

    IBA, Zambales – Candidates from 13 municipalities of Zambales belonging to diff erent political camps came as one to sign a peace covenant for orderly and peaceful local elections at the St. Augustine Cathedral here Friday morning.

    The event was organized by the Zambales Police Provincial Office (ZPPO) headed by Senior Supt. Eli Gayoba Depra, Lt. Col. Roderick Balbanero of AFP, Commission on Elections Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Elaisa Sabile-David, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the parish pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, school principal and members of the local media.

    Parish priest Fr. Arwin Ebueng Sonza offi ciated the Mass before the peace covenant signing.

    “Let us be instruments of peace,” exhorted Sonza in his homily addressing the rival camps in local politics here, adding that candidates should be the “ good shepherds of their flock” and urged them to serve as the “guiding light” of the people.

    Zambales has 356 candidates running for diff erent positions in its two districts.
