CABANATUAN CITY – The city government on Saturday appealed to the public to strictly observe quarantine protocols as it sounded alarm over the surge in coronavirus disease cases in the last three weeks that resulted to full capacity of the city hospital.

“Lubha pong nakababahala ang muling paglobo ng bilang ng Covid-19 sa ating lungsod,” said the local government in its official social media page, noting the 446 RT-PCR and antigen positive cases recorded in the said period.

Records from the city health office showed that as of Aug. 12, this city has 164 active cases, out of 3,281 confirmed cases from which 2,943 have recovered and 174 have died.

In another fresh attempt to contain the virus, the city hall added Saturday to working days for some of its offices to  cut down the volume of people transacting with the local government during weekdays.

Among the offices that open on Saturdays are those of the treasurer, assessor, local civil registrar and business licensing and investment promotion.
