CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA)— Regional government agencies based at the Diosdado Macapagal Government Center (DMGC) reaffirmed their collective commitment to strengthen protection against violence against women and children (VAWC) through a solidarity parade, advocacy banner display, and recognition of exemplary initiatives.
The event brought together DMGC-based agencies in a unified march within the government center, symbolizing shared responsibility in promoting safe spaces and protecting women and children from abuse.
In his opening message, DMGC Chairperson and Philippine Information Agency Regional Director William Beltran stressed that violence in any form should never be tolerated and must not be normalized.

He emphasized that lack of awareness about the different forms and realities of abuse remains a major barrier to resolving violence against women and children.
“As a community and as concerned citizens, we should always stand for actions that protect our people, especially women and children. Let us stand together to build a community where everyone is safe, valued, and free from harm and violence,” he added.
A highlight of the activity was the advocacy banner display, which served as a platform for agencies to communicate strong messages on gender equality, abuse prevention, and the importance of collective action in addressing VAWC.
The Bureau of Fire Protection received the Creativity Award for its imaginative and artistic banner design, while the Department of Economy, Planning and Development earned the Impact Award for delivering a powerful message that left a lasting impression.
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) was named winner of the Best and Unique Banner Award for its exceptional creativity and originality.
DOST Assistant Regional Director Belen Garcia said they conceptualize the design of their banner to support the campaign against VAWC and to build awareness among the public to prevent such violence.
“Gusto naming ipromote na ‘yung mga kababaihan at kabataan ay palaging dapat proteksyunan. Dapat meron tayong gender equality. At lahat ng mga naaabuso ay dapat tulungan at ireport sa proper authority,” she stressed.
The activity concluded with a commitment pledge, where participants collectively vowed to oppose violence, protect women and children, speak out against abuse, and work together in building a safe and just community.
The event underscored the continuing commitment of DMGC agencies to strengthen coordination, raise awareness, and reinforce protective mechanisms against VAWC beyond a single campaign period. (CLJD/MJSC, PIA Region 3-Pampanga)
