GAPAN CITY – Two suspected peddlers of illegal drugs were collared in a buy-bust operation hatched by the city police in Barangay San Nicolas here Wednesday.

In a report to Nueva Ecija police director Col. Ferdinand Germino, the suspects were identified by their aliases Bangungot, 25, a delivery boy, and Obet, 52, a painter, both of Barangay San Vicente in this city.

Investigation showed that anti-drugs operatives under Lt. Col. Wilmar Binag, city, police chief, conducted the drug sting upon confirming the suspects’ alleged illicit activities at around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday.

“A police poseur-buyer was able to purchase suspected illegal drugs from the suspects,” Binag said.

During the body search, a .9mm pistol loaded with ammunition was confiscated from alias Bangungot, Binag reported adding that the confiscated illegal drugs have an estimated weight of 2 grams and worth P13,600.

Charges of violations of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) were being leveled against the two.

Bangungot is facing additional charges of violating RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act). 

The suspects are now in the custody of Gapan City Police Station for proper disposition.

“We commend our personnel for their unwavering commitment to safeguarding our communities and standing firm against criminal activities,” Germino said.
