MEYCAUAYAN CITY (PIA) — Residents of Barangay Perez in Meycauayan City now benefit from safer roads and improved flood control following the completion of a P4.9-million road and drainage improvement project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The project includes 181 linear meters of Portland cement concrete pavement and a 102-linear-meter lined drainage canal designed to improve rainwater flow and reduce the risk of flooding in the area.

DPWH Bulacan 2nd District Engineer George Santos highlighted the positive impact of the development on daily mobility and disaster resilience.
“The newly paved road offers a smoother and more durable surface, which significantly reduces travel time and improves driving comfort,” Santos said.
He added that the initiative forms part of the agency’s goal to build resilient infrastructure that supports both immediate and long-term community development.
The improved drainage system is expected to alleviate waterlogging during heavy rains, while the upgraded road enhances travel efficiency and safety for motorists and pedestrians alike.
With strengthened local connectivity and better flood control, the completed works support a more progressive and disaster-resilient Bulacan. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bulacan)
