Alvarado said the board approved his 2017 Annual Investment Plan which he prepared with the assistance of the Provincial Development Council.
Alvarado said the Bulacan Medical Center (BMC) and the eight district hospitals in his province would be among the biggest beneficiaries of the fund.
“We also want to upgrade infrastructure and facilities at the Bulacan Polytechnic College,” he said.
Alvarado said the health and education sectors would get about P1.5 billion from the allocation. The governor also noted that already, the provincial government is eyeing the upgrading of its dialysis center worth P6.9 million at the BMC.
Alvarado said that more day care centers are to be built, on top of those recently constructed in Barangays Panasahan, Mambog, Bangkal and Sto. Rosario in Malolos City.
He also said that some P3.9 billion of the new 2017 fund would be for various barangay projects in his bid to boost economic development in his third and last term as governor. The amount would cover the cementing of provincial roads and the construction of new roads, including the proposed Malolos-Hagonoy Bypass Road.
Some P70 million would also go to local agriculture under the supervision of the provincial agriculture office, he noted.
Bulacan’s provincial cooperative and economic development office would also get P44 million for local businesses in need of assistance.
Alvarado also said provincial tourism would be boosted with a P57-million funding, including P40 million to be funded by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority.
