CABANATUAN CITY – A 16-year-old student was allegedly raped by her boyfriend and his two companions during a drinking spree in Barangay San Cristobal, Licab, Nueva Ecija on Saturday.
Nueva Ecija police director Col. Marvin Joe Saro said the suspects were arrested a few hours after the incident and are now facing charges for violation of RA 8353 in relation to RA 7610.
He identified the suspects as Nathaniel dela Cruz, 19, reportedly the victim’s boyfriend, Joseph Esguerra, 22, and Francis Nangac, 24, all residents of Barangay San Cristobal.
Police said Dela Cruz was a construction worker while the two other suspects were jobless.
“While they were having a drinking spree and the victim was already intoxicated, Dela Cruz and his companions took turn in sexually abusing her,” reported the Licab police.
Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon attributed the swift arrest of the suspects to timely reporting of the incident.
“Due to quick police reporting, we were able to locate and arrest the suspects promptly and the necessary police action was conducted,” De Leon said as he appealed to the public to help them in campaign against all forms of criminality.
