MINALIN, Pampanga — A 13-year-old boy allegedly being used by his mother as a runner for illegal drugs was “rescued” by the police here, but his mother and her two buyers were arrested.

In a report, town police head Chief Inspector Pearl Joy Gollayan identified the arrested mother as Marites Quiazon, 40, of Purok 1 in Barangay San Isidro in this town. Arrested with her were Jayson Navarro, 37 and Albert Navarro, 32, both residents of Purok 3 in Barangay Dawe, also in this town.

The arrests were made during a buy-bust sting operation by the local police in Barangay San Isidro here, in coordination with agents from the regional office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

The arresting officers found in the possession of Quiazon two sachets of suspected shabu, while inspection of her house revealed 39 more sachets of suspected shabu, cash amounting to P14,000, two P500 marked bills used for the operation. The buyers had three sachets of suspected shabu allegedly bought from Quiazon.

Gollayan said that apart from violation of anti-illegal drugs law, Quiazon would also be charged with violating laws pertaining to child abuse and negligence, as she had allegedly used her underaged son as courier for drugs.
