MABALACAT, Pamp. – “All I want on my birthday and this Christmas is the cityhood for Mabalacat.”

Thus said Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales as he celebrated his 61st natal day by leading the blessing and inauguration of the birthing station in Barangay Dau here on Tuesday.

“The cityhood will be the best gift for the people as they will greatly benefit from it,” said Morales. The Mabalacat cityhood bill has been approved in Congress and is now with the Senate.

The mayor opened the fourth birthing station in the first class municipality at the most thickly-populated village here and the center of business and industry. The other birthing stations are in Barangays Camachilles,  Madapdap and Mawaque.

Dr. Alejandro San Pedro, head of Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) board of midwifery, was the guest of honor of Morales.

Councilor Oscar Aurelio said San Pedro had vowed to assist the local government in running the five-bed capacity station at the Samsonville Subd. It is just beside the Dau Barangay hall.

“In all aspects,” said Aurelio when asked by Punto on San Pedro’s scope of assistance.

Aurelio said they are set to open the 5th birthing station in Barangay Poblacion where the old municipal hall is.
Aurelio said Morales’ birthing stations had benefited poor residents of the town.

“Mayor Morales will make not just make birthing stations when we become a city but drastically improved and extend the district hospital,” he added.

First District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin was represented by his son, Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin who may run for a local position in 2013 elections.
