MABALACAT, Pampanga – Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales yesterday asked the town council to pass a law banning the entry of trucks here loaded with waste due to the foul smell it emits.
Morales said they had received complaints from residents about the foul smell emitted by the garbage trucks mostly coming from Metro Manila. He added they pass by here on their way to the sanitary landfill in Capas Tarlac.
“My people have had enough of stinking smell. It must stop. They should look for other routes,” he said. “I want more teeth to the law against these erring trucks.”
Councilor Froy Galang said he will support the passing of an ordinance banning the entry of the trucks. “I smelled the foul smell and it really causes inconvenience,” he said.
The first-term councilor urged his fellow members of the council to “support the call of the mayor.”
May Santos, owner of a poultry supply in Barangay San Francisco, said Morales should “really ban these trucks as they cause hardships to local folk.”
“I can’t believe that the trucks had already passed and after a few minutes it still smells bad,” said Santos.
Residents of Barangay San Joaquin said some trucks even drop waste along the national and local roads.
“They put lives in danger because it may be hospital waste,” they added.
