MABALACAT, Pampanga – “This is the next Makati north of Metro Manila.”
Thus said Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales on Friday as he led the groundbreaking rites of the new municipal hall at the P6-billion Xevera-Mabalacat housing project in Barangay Tabun here.
Morales said the Xevera “is the first major part of the puzzle” for the planned Central Business District (CBD) in Tabun and nearby Barangay Dolores.
Xevera-Mabalacat is the second major “budget- friendly” housing project of the Globe Asiatique in Pampanga following the success of its Xevera-Bacolor, dubbed as “affordable luxury.”
“This is what we need to realize our dream to develop a progressive center north of Mabalacat.
“Xevera has started it and more will naturally follow,” said Morales, who expressed deep gratitude to Globe Asiatique President and CEO Delfin Lee for his generous contribution to the municipality.
Lee donated the two-storey municipal hall which is being constructed at the front area of the 62-hectare area of Xevera.
Morales urged the sangguniang bayan (SB) to make Lee an adopted son of Mabalacat.
“And it will be fully furnished,” said Lee in his speech delighting Morales and others who attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
Lee added that “you will no longer recognize the area by December 31.”
Grand launching will be on January 25.
“I will bring in the grand launching the ASAP television show courtesy of ABS-CBN,” Lee said.
He said that aside from the municipal hall, they will also build a theme park, church, commercial center, grocery and wet market.
Some 7,000 houses will be built in Xevera. Also available is the lot-only area, Lee said.
First District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) EVP Alex Cauguiran and town councilors led by Benny Jocson, Tom Manalo and Froy Galang also graced the occasion.
Veteran journalist Sonny Lopez hosted the event.
