MABALACAT, Pampanga – More than 1,000 residents here, mostly children and teenagers, have benefited from the circumcision project here sponsored by Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales and his wife Niña.
Morales said the free circumcision started at his residence in Barangay Dau on April 30 and will end on May 7.
“This is our firm commitment to help people continuously, especially on health matters,” said Morales, who targets at least 2,000 people in the eight-day project.
Morales said private hospital and clinics usually charge P1,500 per person for circumcision fee.
The two-term mayor said medicines are also given for free.
“My better half Niña prepares food for the children and their parents while they wait for their turn or after they are circumcised,” he said.
At least 187 people were circumcised on the first day of the project at the Morales’ residence in Samsonville Subdivision.
The mayor tapped at least 10 doctors and more than 20 nurses for the “Operation Tule”.
Morales said residents of Dau, Duquit and Lakandula – three adjacent villages – had been aggressively informed about their project. “It’s some sort of clustering. We will have another round of this project in other areas.”
