MABALACAT, Pampanga – “A leader worth emulating who puts premium in public service.”
Thus said Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales yesterday as he led the recent awarding of a town council resolution congratulating First District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin for being named one of the most 30 outstanding congressmen in the country.
“A good friend, strong political ally and wise mentor that is Congressman Lazatin,” added Morales, who initiated the passing of Resolution 190 (series of 2009) which was unanimously approved by members of the council.
Morales and Vice Mayor Prospero “Pros” Lagman led the presentation of the resolution at the town hall during the flag-raising ceremony last week.
Congress Magazine, in its annual awarding ceremonies earlier this year at the Manila Hotel, named Lazatin as one of the outstanding solons.
“Pro-poor programs, socio-economic and infrastructure development projects, his commitment and wisdom to serve, share, and help the district and its people including his unrelenting support to the on-going development of Clark, which are envisioned, reflected, and supported by the bills and resolutions he filed before Congress are clear manifestation and proof of dedication and sincerity of the congressman,” the resolution cited.
“He has done much for public schools and hospitals and the general welfare of the people,’ said Councilor Froy Galang.
Last month, the town council of Magalang also passed a similar resolution congratulating Lazatin for the same achievement.
