Thus said yesterday Marino “Boking” Morales in describing presidentiable and Defense Sec. Gilberto Teodoro Jr.. The former Tarlac congressman was chosen as the standard-bearer of the ruling Lakas-NUCD party headed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Morales stressed that he and his political allies in the thickly populated town will “go all-out for the standard-bearer of Lakas in the 2010 presidential elections.”
Morales hailed Teodoro for his “determined effort and professionalism” in dealing with the recent destructive floods wrought by typhoon Ondoy in Metro Manila and other areas in Rizal province and Central Luzon, including Pampanga where 12 persons died due to a landslide in Arayat town.
“You separate the men from the boys when there is a huge obstacle. Secretary Teodoro is one of the best crisis managers ever,” said Morales.
The mayor said “it’s great advantage if the leader of the country is equipped with overwhelming education and experience in public office.” Teodoro is a product of the UP Diliman law school and was a bar topnotcher in 1989. He earned his Master of Laws degree at the Harvard Law School in Massachusetts, USA.
But more importantly, he added, “Teodoro’s public life is unblemished.”
“Teodoro combines brains with a big heart and good reputation,” said Morales.
Morales said the Filipinos should support the presidential ambitions of Teodoro “to ensure the continuous development and improvement of the projects of Arroyo, especially in Pampanga, Clark and nearby areas.”
“All the laudable projects of GMA would be derailed if anyone other than Teodoro will replace the president,” said Morales.
A nephew of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Chairman Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco, Teodoro is a licensed commercial pilot and husband of former model and Tarlac Rep. Monica Prieto-Teodoro. He is the only son of former Social Security System (SSS) administrator Gilberto Teodoro Sr. and former Batasang Pambansa member Mercedes Cojuangco.
