MORONG, Bataan — The body of the drowning victim reported missing Saturday was recovered on the second day Sunday in a beach resort here, the Philippine Coast Guard Sabang substation reported Monday.

PO1 Edward John Lazaro, commander of CG Sabang substation in Morong, said that a lifeguard informed them that a cadaver was found floating in front of their beach resort at past 4 p.m. Sunday. Lazaro said the cadaver turned out to be the body of Shalom Miranda, 24, of Caloocan City, who was the object of search and rescue.

CG SN2 Rhenantee Hernandez said that a relative reported that Miranda was swimming at another beach resort in Barangay Nagbalayong Saturday when the victim was hit by strong waves and drifted with the current to the deepest part of the sea.

Hernandez said that upon receipt of information on the drowning victim, a Coast Guard team was dispatched and conducted shoreline patrol of the coastal area of Nagbalayong but their search was negative.

He said that they temporarily stopped the search due to darkness and continued it on the next day, Sunday.

Reports showed that joining the Coast Guard in the search and rescue operations were members of the Maritime Morong monitoring team, Morong municipal police station, police Special Action Force and Metro Bataan Development Authority.
