CLARK FREEPORT – Forfeited and abandoned electronic gadgets like mobile phones and laptops at the Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark will be donated to the Department of Education.
This, pursuant to Section 1141 of RA 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, said BOC-Clark district collector Atty. Ruby Alameda, adding that “the donation will support Filipino students in their distant learning education during this challenging time.”
An inventory of the forfeited and abandoned mobile phones, laptops, computer monitors and other accessories was conducted on Sept. 14 and Oct. 8 in the presence of representatives of the National Telecommunications Commission, Commission on Audit, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service, and Enforcement and Security Service.
The inventoried items were covered by forfeiture decisions and final decrees of abandonment which attained finalities and were in violation of Sections 117 & 1113 of RA 10863.
BOC-Clark will donate the items to DepEd after compliance with the rules and regulations and conduct of necessary donation procedures.
