ANGELES CITY – Former Mayor Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno on Monday categorically said he will run for congressman in 2013 and will join forces with the incumbent first district solon.
Nepomuceno, who was interviewed at the sidelines of the visit of Vice President Jejomar Binay at the EPZA Resettlement here, said “the Lazatin name is always inscribed in my heart.” He was referring to First District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin who has decided to run for Angeles City mayor instead of seeking re-election.
Lazatin, along with prospective rival Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and Gov. Lilia Pineda joined Binay in turning-over land titles to EPZA residents.
“For good governance,” said Nepomuceno when asked why he will ally with Lazatin in the 2013 elections.
Asked for his comments, Lazatin said “I am also near there (in supporting Nepomuceno).”
Nepomuceno, a former three-term congressman, said he has yet to be included in any political party. He was long-time member of the Nationalist Peoples’ Coaltion (NPC).
Nepomuceno is expected to slug it out with Vice Gov. Joseller “Yeng” Guiao who has started going the rounds of the first district.
Pamintuan and Guiao formalized their alliance last month where 28 of the city’s 33 barangay chairmen and their kagawads presented Guiao a manifesto of support.
