ANGELES CITY – Saying he wants to prevent crime in the city, Mayor Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno bought four motorbikes costing some P4.8 million.
In the simple turn-over ceremony at the city hall on Monday, Nepomuceno turned over the four Yamaha 1300cc motorcycles to the police led by Sr. Supt. Pierre Bucsit, city police director. Each unit costs P1.2 million.
Nepomuceno said the motor bikes would help police “move around better and help stop or prevent crimes.”
City Administrator Mark Allen Sison disclosed that each motorbike costs P1.3-million before.
“We were able to bargain and got them lower than the price offered. It’s 1300cc and each CC cost P100,000 that’s why it’s available for P1.3 million per bike,’ said Sison.
However, some residents and members of a biker’s club said that the motorbikes “are too expensive”.
“They could already buy imported Ducati motorbikes,” they added.
Bucsit, for his part, expressed gratitude to Nepomuceno for the new service motorbikes.
He said that most crimes had been committed by suspects riding in tandem on a motorcycle.
“These are very fast bikes and we can definitely run after criminals,” said Bucsit. He added that the new motorbikes would be deployed in strategic areas in the city.
