Someone admitted to me how irritated he was about my persistence with articles on the Blessed Virgin Mary, mostly on her messages from her modern-day apparitions.
I asked him: you prefer the words of your national and local politicians, your neighbors, your officemates, your wife or husband etc.?
You never run short of them daily, so why not lend an ear to one who comes from the supernatural, specifically the Mother of God? Would she say anything of less importance?
He knew the answer, but kept silent.
The unprecedented explosion of Marian apparitions of our times (not to mention apparitions of Jesus Christ Himself) ought to make us pause to ask ourselves, Why?
There is something serious being conveyed from Heaven and what is being conveyed is for us earthlings. For those who have ears to hear (why, the messages are also for the deaf), take time to listen.
In relation to this, the Blessed Mother said in Medjugorje on Dec. 31, 1981 in regard to priests who did not believe in her apparitions: "It is necessary to tell them that, from the very beginning, I have been conveying the message of God to the world. It is a great pity not to believe in it.
Faith is a vital element, but one can not compel a person to believe. Faith is the foundation from which everything flows."
From the messages of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Medjugorje (from 1981 to the present) are, indeed, gems that inspire and teach. Here are some of here other messages, dated according to when she said it in Medjugorje.
Feb. 14, 1982: "Be together like brothers and sisters. Do not argue. Satan exists! He seeks only to destroy.
With regards to you (addressing four Medjugorje visionaries), pray and persevere in prayer. No one will be able to do anything against you."
Feb. 19, 1982: "Listen attentively at Holy Mass. Be well mannered. Do not chatter during Holy Mass."
May 2, 1982: "I have come to call the world to conversion for the last time. Later, I will not appear anymore on earth."
May 13, 1982 on the attempt on the life of then Pope John Paul II: "His enemies have wanted to kill him, but I protected him."
July 12, 1982 after being asked whether there would be a third world war: "The third world war will not take place."
July 21, 1982 on the souls in Purgatory: "There are many souls in Purgatory. There are also persons who have been consecrated to God: some priests, some religious.
Pray for their intentions, at least seven Our Father’s, Hail Mary’s and Glory Be’s and the Creed. I recommend it to you. There is a large number of sould who have been in Purgatory for a long time because no one prays for them."
July 21, 1982: "The best fast is on bread and water. Through fasting and prayer, one can stop wars, one can suspend the laws of nature. Charity can not replace fasting. Those who are not able to fast can sometime replace it with prayer, charity, and a confession; but everyone, except the sick, must fast."
