CABANATUAN CITY – The Bureau of Internal Revenue’s District Office 23B which covers South Nueva Ecija on Friday appealed to taxpayers to file income tax returns promptly and correctly.

RDO 23B chief Lope Tubera said annual income tax returns can be filed on or before April 17, 2023.

The agency conducted a two-leg motorcade campaign across all municipalities within its area to encourage stakeholders pay taxes the earliest time possible.

“Let us avoid the rush,” Tubera said.

He noted that the cooperation from the public and various government agencies, including national government agencies, government-owned and -controlled corporations, local government units, business groups, and tax practitioners/bookkeepers had led to successful tax collection efforts in previous years.

“Noong 2021, tayo po ay naka-collect ng higit pa sa goal na inatas sa aming revenue district office,” Tubera said.

“Para sa datos ng 2021, ang goal po natin ay P3,028,321,000 at ang kabuuang collection po natin ay P3,408,701,715.22 so meron po tayong excess na P380,380,715.22 or 12% excess of collection over goal/target,” Tubera explained in an interview.

This collection performance even registered an improvement the following year.

“Sa 2022 naman ang aming goal ay P4,374,733,000 at ang collection naman namin ay P4,557,054,123 or 4.17% ang excess namin over goal,” he added.

Asst. revenue district officer Carlito Bohol said that on top of the tax campaign caravan, their district provides on a regular basis seminar to new businessmen.

“Mabuti nang malaman kaagad ng ating mga kababayang businessmen ang batas para naiiwasan ang problema,” Bohol said.

He stressed that the taxes being paid by the people are used in government projects and services.

The BIR carries for its campaign the theme “Tulong-tulong sa Pagbangon, Kapit-kamay sa Pag-ahon, Buwis na Wasto Alay para sa Pilipino.
