SAMAL, Bataan- Police on Thursday arrested five suspects and confiscated two kilos of suspected dried marijuana leaves and four small sachet believed containing methamphetamine hydrochloride in two separate buy-bust operations at the same housing subdivision in Samal, Bataan.
Samal Mayor Gene dela Fuente said the confiscation was the biggest haul of illegal drugs so far recorded in this town of farmers and fishermen.
The mayor immediately rushed to Richtown Subdivision in Barangay Lalawigan where the operations were conducted. She congratulated the arresting team composed of the Police Public Safety Company, the police provincial intelligence bureau and the Samal police station led by Senior Inspector Emelito dela Cruz, town police chief.
The mayor said first to fall before noon of Thursday were suspects Chavvy Samson, 29; Lea Salonga, 37 and driver Aries Rivera, 31. Found in the possession of the three were four small heat-sealed plastic sachet of shabu.
Also confiscated from the suspects were a P500-bill marked money used by a police poseur-buyer.
“Hindi ako kasali, nadamay lang ako,” said Rivera who is from Kawayan, Orani, Bataan. Samson and Salonga are also from Orani town but rented a house in Richtown. “No comment,” Samson answered when asked.
At 2 p.m. of the same day, police operatives arrested Mark Angelo Bondoc, 29 and Norway Salonga, 26, also both from Orani who started renting a month ago a housing unit at the subdivision.
Confiscated from the two were marked money of two P500-bills and a bag full of 37 bricks of dried marijuana leaves.
“Sa Bacoor, Cavite galing ang marijuana na ibinebenta namin sa mga kaibigan namin,” Bondoc said.
Mayor dela Fuente said Richtown is a peaceful place and those with ill motives take advantage of it. She said she was thinking of asking the sangguniang bayan of the possibility of enacting an ordinance to regulate the rent of housing units in Richtown and the identification of those seeking rentals.
“Sa lahat ng nagbabalak, kasalukuyang gumagamit ng droga o nagtutulak, hindi namin kayo tatantanan. Stay away from Samal,” the mayor warned.
