SAMAL, Bataan: The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources on Friday, July 19, lifted the shellfish ban that it imposed in Bataan on July 17, Wednesday, advising the public of the presence of red tide along the coastal areas in nine towns.

BFAR on July 17 refrained the public from gathering, eating and selling all types of shellfishes and “alamang” from the coastal waters of Bataan in the towns of Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay, Pilar, Orion, Limay and Mariveles and the City of Balanga to avoid possible shellfish poisoning.

Shellfish vendors along the MacArthur Highway in Samal said they removed the green mussels or tahong and oysters or talaba from their stalls after the municipal government advised them of the July 17 shellfish advisory.

As of Saturday morning, only some talaba and a few  tahong were being sold while waiting for new harvests.

She appealed to BFAR.

Banal said.
