ANGELES CITY — “Affordable yet classy and genuine scotch whiskey.”
Thus said Edwin Ong, president and CEO of Global Noble International Corporation, as he and celebrity endorser Borgy Manotoc promoted the Benmore Four Casks blended scotch whiskey in Pampanga.
Global is the distributing and marketing arm of the world-renowed Diageo, the Scotland-based whiskey maker which introduced Benmore in the country three years ago. It also produces popular brands such as Johnnie Walker, Baileys and Swirnoff.
Ong disclosed that Benmore is priced between P350 to P390 per 700ml bottle. He added that its price is way low compared to other brands.
“And to think Benmore is imported scotch,” he added.
Manotoc, son of Ilocos Norte Rep. Imee Marcos and sportsman Tommy Manotoc, said “Benmore fits him.” It was the first time that the 28-year-old model endorsed a liquor product.
He and Ong stressed that they target “people aged 21-35 years old for their product.”
“Borgy exemplifies what Benmore stands for in terms of boldness in character, the versatility and style it exudes and the integrity it command,” said Global in a statement on why it chose Manotoc as its brand ambassador of Benmore.
In a statement, the makers of Benmore said “it’s called Four Casks because it is distilled in four different types of oak casks and give harmony between mellow taste and scotch aroma, including malt and peat aroma with the hint of smokiness.”
Allan Tolentino, Global’s business development manager, said Benmore is readily available in Pampanga and other Central Luzon provinces.
They are in their second leg of their nationwide Benmore Bar Tour in Luzon. They visited at least eight major areas in Visayas and Mindanao this year, including Cagayan De Oro City, Davao City, Bacolod City and Cebu City.
Tolentino said Benmore is heavily distributed in countries in Asia. He added that Thailand consumed 400,000 bottles in one year recently.
