ANGELES CITY – Passion. Sensibility. Purpose.

All three words best describe the first album launching of young Kapampangan artist Lorenzo entitled “Believing in Love.”

Believing in Love features 10 enchanting songs, eight of which are Lorenzo’s original compositions. The other two songs from the album are revivals of the classics Our Father and Ave Maria.

According to Lorenzo, the other eight songs are meant to pay tribute to people in Philippine society that played an important role in his life: parents, the youth, school teachers, and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), among others.

“Lorenzo is a cut above the rest,” says Dr. Ollie Villaraza, medical director of the newly-established Sacred Heart Medical Center.

“Only 27 years old, his repertoire is a cross between the modern and classical genre,” added Villaraza, who was among those to first discover Lorenzo’s talent.

Villaraza stressed that Lorenzo’s stunning performances earned him the reputation “Andrea Bocelli of the Philippines” as he serenaded audiences in Pampanga, Manila, and as far as Cebu City.

Lorenzo said his first album “is a dream come true” and lovingly dedicates the hard work he has poured in this endeavor to parents Francisco and Eliza Lorenzo and to “God-sent” friends who gave their unselfish support.

“This  album  is,  therefore,  lovingly  dedicated  to  each  one  of  them.  I  will  be  forever  grateful  to  them  for  believing  in  me  and  for  accepting  my  music  which,  I  hope,  will  also  touch  the  hearts  of  other  listeners,  as  they  relate  to  the  songs  which  tell  us  what  ‘Believing  in  Love’ is  all  about,” Lorenzo said.

Lorenzo said his music is also an advocacy that hopes to create awareness among the youth on the role and importance music in instilling values that could help mold a better society.

While Believing in Love does not carry a song with Kapampangan lyrics, Lorenzo said one of the cuts that paid tribute to OFWs entitled “Ikaw Lamang” was originally written in Kapampangan. He   stressed that a project dedicated to the Kapampangan people is also in the pipeline.

Believing in Love, pegged at P350 each and will be available in leading record stores, was launched Saturday, May 29, before a mesmerized audience at Chef Alan Garcia’s Zulu Coffee & Tea in Diamond Subdivision, Angeles City.
