BALANGA CITY — The southwest monsoon or habagat enhanced by Typhoon Juan continued on Tuesday to bring light to moderate and short occasional heavy rains in Bataan flooding some portions of three of 11 towns and one city.

The office of Gov. Albert Garcia suspended classes in all levels, both public and private, for the second day. Tess Senora, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, said floodings were recorded in portions of the towns of Hermosa, Dinalupihan and Mariveles.

In Samal town, 18 families of 40 children and 35 adults were evacuated at the Samal North Elementary School as preparation in case of flood in the low-lying Sitio Sunshine in Barangay San Juan. In Hermosa, affected were barangays Almacen with 5-foot floodwaters; Daungan with 2.5-foot floodwater; A. Rivera with 3-foot floodwaters; and Pulo, 3-foot floodwaters.

In Dinalupihan, under 2-foot floodwaters were portions of barangays Penafl or and Sta. Isabel while floods in barangays Balon Anito and San Isidro in Mariveles were 2-foot deep. Small portions of agricultural lands in Hermosa, Dinalupihan, Samal and Balanga with newly-planted palay were under water.

A check in the towns of Pilar, Orion and Limay showed no flooding and the sea was calm. Search for Mhel Adrian Biscocho, 17, of Naparing, Dinalupihan continued on the third day. The victim reportedly drowned while diving at the Colo Dam in Dinalupihan.
