ORANI, Bataan – If they have a chance, members of the Philippine National Police here will grab and not miss the opportunity to help the community they have sworn to serve and protect.
The police officers under Orani police chief Major Dennis Ian Revillas are not only after the maintenance of peace and order in the locality but in helping the people even in their small way.
This, a group of police officers led by Police Staff Sergeant Jobelle Hugo showed Wednesday when they happened to pass by a house being constructed in barangay Tugatog, Orani.
They were heading towards another barangay for coordination when they saw that the owner of the house, Jonathan Garcia, and a carpenter were the only ones working and it was understaffed.
The police officers offered assistance which the owner happily accepted.
The next scenes that followed were gratifying. Police officers carried in their arms hollow blocks, plywood and other materials regardless of the heat of the sun. Some did carpentry works.
It did not end in the mere assistance by the police of labor. Major Revillas even donated five bags of cement and 20 pieces of hollow blocks to the house owner.
Immersing in the community is not new to the Orani police. Some weeks ago, they offered free hot coffee and pandesal to tricycle drivers and indigents in the community.
