MARIVELES, Bataan — The Philippine National Police arrested two suspected drug traders and confiscated P1.07-million worth of shabu in two separate operations in Mariveles and Abucay towns Tuesday.
In a buy-bust operation in Barangay Alasasin, Mariveles, personnel of the provincial police drug enforcement unit and the Mariveles municipal police station nabbed a 40-year-old resident of Barangay Mt. View, also in Mariveles.
The suspect was arrested after handing one small heat-sealed plastic sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P1,000 marked money.
Operatives said upon protective search, they found from the suspect four teabag-sized plastic sachets of shabu weighing 150 grams estimated at P1,020,000.
Lt. Col. Joelito Orias, Mariveles police chief, said the suspect faces charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165.
At the national road in Barangay Laon in Abucay town, operatives nabbed a 52-year-old suspected drug peddler from Barangay Mabatang of the same town.
Personnel of the municipal police station led by Capt. Gilcerio Dizon, Jr., Abucay deputy police chief, were conducting an anti-criminality checkpoint when they flagged down the suspect on board a motorcycle.
Police said they questioned the suspect for speeding and non-wearing of helmet. When asked for his driver’s license, a police officer saw a pair of scissors and a bundle of transparent plastic sachets in the suspect’s black sling bag.
Confiscated from the suspect were one large heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet and one small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of shabu weighing 25 grams worth P50,000.
Maj. Winston Norte, Abucay police chief, said they are preparing appropriate complaint against the suspect.
