BALANGA City: Bataan was included among 10 provinces with the highest Basic and Functional Literacy Rates in the country based on a survey of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) for year 2024.
According to Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia III, Bataan got the eight place in provinces all over the country that have the highest basic and functional literacy rates in the Functional Literacy, Education and Mass Media Survey (FLEMMS) conducted by PSA.
Bataan registered 93.64% in Basic Literacy Rate and 77.8% in Functional Literacy Rate.
Basic Literacy Rate measures the ability of an individual to read, write and prepare simple problems in mathematics. Functional Literacy Rate shows that an individual has a high level of understanding on analyzing, connecting information and interpreting based on data presented, the governor explained.
“Kung ikukumpara sa national average na 90% sa Basic Literacy at 70.8% Functional Literacy, mas mataas ang natamo ng Bataan,” Garcia said.
“Patunay lamang ang mga datos na ito sa ating patuloy na pagtutulungan at pagsisikap na itaguyod ang mataas na kalidad ng edukasyon para sa bawat Bataeño,” Garcia added. (30)
