ABUCAY, Bataan: The Department of Agriculture through its Philippine Center for Postharvest and Mechanization (PhilMech) distributed P35 million-worth of farm machineries to 23 farmer cooperatives and associations (FCAs) and local government units in Bataan Friday.
The provincial office of the Philippine information Agency said the delivery of farm machineries was part of the DA’s transition to mechanization which is one of the components of the Rice Competitive Enhancement Fund under the Rice Tariffication Law.
Distributed were 7 units of four-wheel tractors, 12 units of hand tractors, 2 units of riding-type transplanters, 8 units of rice combine harvesters and a unit of single-pass ricemill.
Rick Quiambao of the PIA said that so far Bataan has acquired a total of 289 agricultural machineries and postharvest facilities valued at over P241 million, benefiting 129 FCAs and LGUs.
PhilMech director Dionisio Alvindia led in the distribution of the machineries.
Joining the event were Gov Jose Enrique Garcia 3rd, Vice-Gov. Cristina Garcia, 3rd district Congresswoman Maria Angela Garcia, Abucay Mayor Robin Tagle, other LGU officials and personnel of the Agriculture department and PhilMech.
The turn-over of the machineries was held at the Sibul Nature Spring Resort in Abucay.
