Bataan experiences heavy flooding

BALANGA City: Bataan suffered flooding as habagat and typhoon Carina triggered intermittent heavy rains Tuesday night and almost the whole day Wednesday.

Rick Quiambao of the Philippine  Information Agency quoting data from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office reported that five out of 11 towns and a city  have reported flooding due to the rainfall brought by typhoon Carina enhanced by the southwest monsoon and the high tide. 

The affected areas included Bagac, Mariveles, Abucay, Balanga City and Orani.

Barangay Ibis in Bagac registered 1.08 feet deep flood.  Barangays Ipag, San isidro and Balon in Mariveles had flood waters 1.08 ft. deep. All roads in the two towns were passable. 

Portion of the MacArthur Highway in Barangay Capitangan, Abucay was  not passable with flood waters at 3.75 ft. deep. Road in Barangay Ibayo in Balanga City was also not passable with 2 ft. deep of flood. Boundary of Barangays Balut and Arellano recorded 0.60 ft. deep flooding. 

Flooding were also reported in Hermosa and Samal where some areas planted to rice were submerged in deep water. Floods in most areas subsided when the  low tide replaced the high tide in the afternoon. 

At the height of the rains, electric power went in outage  for some hours from noon to afternoon in some parts of Bataan.
