Bataan celebrates 267th founding day in fiesta atmosphere

BALANGA City: Bataan celebrated its 267th foundation day in fiesta atmosphere with several brass bands providing music to  a long colorful parade participated by thousands of government and private workers on Thursday, declared as a special non-working holiday in the historic peninsula.

After a Thanksgiving Holy Mass at the Cathedral Shrine Parish of Saint Joseph, the parade started at the Plaza Mayor de Balanga and ended at the Bataan People’s Center in the capitol compound.

Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia 3rd delivered his State of the Province Address in the filled spacious Bataan People’s Center, citing several  awards for good governance received by the provincial government in 2023.

The governor described the celebration as a very important occasion. He thanked 1st district Congresswoman Geraldine Roman, 2nd district Cong. Albert Garcia, 3rd district Congresswoman Maria Angela Garcia and Pusong Pinoy Partylist Rep. Jett Nisay for their contributions to the province.

“Makabuluhan at makasaysayan ang ipinagdiriwang natin ngayon at nalampasan natin ang maraming pagsubok na nagdaan,” Congressman Garcia said.

After the State of the Province Address, participants from 11 towns and one city enjoyed playing some Laro ng Lahi like Taguang tsinelas and jumping rope at the capitol compound.

Gabi ng Musika along the Capitol Road  in the evening capped the celebration.
