HERMOSA, Bataan — The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) on Sunday reported that 16 villages in Bataan were hit by flash flood of one foot to four feet deep.

Seven villages came from Hermosa town, namely, Almacen, Daungan, Sityo Parayray, Pulo, Saba, Mandama and Purok 1. Portions of Luakan, Mabini Extension, Saguing, San Ramon, Sta. Isabel and Layac; all in Dinalupihan, were likewise flooded.

The town of Pilar has two flooded villages – Balut 2 and Wawa.

PDRRMO chief Josefi na Timoteo said the flooding was due to high tide and continuous rains.

The national weather bureau has placed Bataan under the orange rainfall warning.

Evacuated at the Luakan National High School were 47 families of 186 persons from barangay Luakan and Saguing in Dinalupihan while 7 of 25 individuals at another evacuation center came from San Ramon, also in Dinalupihan.

JM Garcia of the Philippine Information Agency said the first and second engineering districts of the Department of Public Works and Highways were continuously monitoring road and bridge condition.

The barangay road in sitio Macaraeg in Luakan was temporarily closed to traffic after the road was submerged into two feet of flood water when a portion of the dike in the area collapsed.

Banca remained as the only means of transportation in the villages of Almacen, Daungan, Parayray and Pulo.

There were no reports of landslide, fallen trees and injuries as a result of the flood.

Both the Roman and MacArthur Highways were declared passable to all types of vehicles.
