Mayor Andy Lacson
CLARK FREEPORT –Andres “Andy” Lacson, the youthful mayor of Concepcion, Tarlac, is banking on his legacy as the chief executive of his town in his campaign for a seat in the House of Representatives.
During the regular media forum, Balitaan, organized by the Capampangan in Media, Inc. in cooperation with the Clark Development Corp. at the Bale Balita here last Friday, the three-term mayor said he can only bank on his performance to showcase his track in public service.
Lacson said today, Concepcion has moved on to the next level with investments coming in for the benefit of his constituents hampered only by the raging pandemic.
The once bucolic town has been left behind in terms of development as its location on the eastern portion of the province has relegated it at the periphery of the Central Luzon economic growth corridor, he lamented.
He said Capas has become progressive in the wake of the development in the area foremost of which is the New Clark City. He said if he makes it to Congress, he will form an Inclusive development council that will include all municipalities in Tarlac’s third district – Bamban, Concepcion, Capas, and La Paz – so that no one is left behind.
A mega-highway from Bamban to Concepcion to La Paz all the way to Nueva Ecija is seen to spur development, he said. The area is idle lands now but will be transformed into a progressive region once the highway is completed.
He said the area is where floodwaters and lahar settled but is now elevated and can be transformed into an economic zone.
Lacson also said once in Congress, he said he will also file a bill that will give compensation to barangay health workers who have been earning very meager wages that is why there should be a national law that will compensate them.
He said BHWs deserve it since they are in the frontlines as what we have experienced in this pandemic and they only received allowances.
Lacson will face Concepcion Association of Barangay Captains president Noel “Bong” Rivera and Bamban Mayor Jose Antonio Feliciano, Jr. for a seat as representative of Tarlac’s 3rd District in Congress in the May 2022 elections.
