BALANGA CITY – The city government here on Monday launched two motorized bancas to be known as “Floating Bahay-Kubo” for use by both local and foreign tourists in visiting the birdwatching site in barangay Tortugas.
It will cruise the Sta. Rosa River from the Barangay Poblacion River Deck passing through fishing villages to the Wetland Park in Tortugas, one of the seaside villages of Balanga.
Tortugas and other birdwatching sites in Balanga could be reached through land transportation. “But we decided to launch the “bangkang pang-turista” to expose to the eyes of visitors the picturesque view along the river free of traffic,” Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III said.
The Wetland Park is still in the process of development. A stunning viewing deck sits at the middle of the park where the surroundings including the Manila Bay are in full view. Some open huts are also available for those who want to have picnic.
