“The City Government of Balanga now offers financial assistance to graduates who will take review classes for licensure examination in engineering, nursing, accountancy, education and other fields,” the city government said in its announcement yesterday.
Balanga Mayor Francis Garcia said “applicants have to submit their certification from review center, transcript of records/diploma, BIR certificate of tax exemption, birth certificate, barangay certificate of indigency, personal letter to the mayor, and voter’s ID.”
Requirements must be submitted to the City Social Welfare and Development Office at the ground floor of Balanga City Hall, it said.
The city government said this program is on top of the current P6,000-per-semester it grants to deserving college students under the Iskolar ng Bayan program pioneered by former Bataan Rep. Enrique Garcia and pursued by his sons Gov. Albert and 2nd District Rep. Jose Enrique.
The Iskolar ng Bataan program has supported the tertiary education of over 85,000 students, teachers and indigenous people since 1995, the city government noted.
