CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Provincial Government of Pampanga recognized the municipality of Bacolor as the ‘Most Outstanding Municipal Nutrition Committee’ during the “ 2023 Provincial Nutrition Awarding Ceremony” held on Monday, January 29.
Arayat was named 1st runner-up while Guagua and Lubao bagged the 2nd and 3rd runner-up respectively.
Apart from its individual award, the municipality of Lubao was also given a special award for having the “Best Community Garden.”
On behalf of Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda, SP Vice-Chair on Health and Sanitation and 1st District Board Member Krizzanel Garbo and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Zenon Ponce led the awarding of trophies and cash prizes to all the winners.
According to Garbo, Governor Delta acknowledges the efforts demonstrated by the LGUs and their dedication to improving the lives and nutrition of the Kapampangans, especially the children in their respective communities.
“Very important ya pu ining event a ini because we want to advocate nutrition in the whole province. We are here to inspire para lalu la pa pu magsumikap deng kekatamung LGUs para mas palawakan da pa reng programa da for nutrition especially for children,” Garbo said.
According to the National Nutrition Council’s report, the prevalence rate of underweight children aged 0-59 months decreased by 2.5%, and the stunting prevalence also decreased by 4.2%.
“Nakakainspire po ang suporta na ipinakita ni Governor Pineda sa paglalaan ng pondo para sa nutrisyon para sama-samang matugunan ang gutom at malnutrisyon dito sa lalawigan ng Pampanga,“ said Ana Maria Rosaldo, regional nutrition program coordinator, NNC – Central Luzon.
The event is part of Governor Delta’s programs which is aimed at encouraging LGUs to combat malnutrition in the province.
