The arrest of Osterreich Trebuch Siegfried was carried out by personnel from the city police, led by Inspector Bernadette Galura and the city social welfare office, in reaction to an anonymous phone call saying that two girls were suspiciously in the company of the foreigner at a convenience store along Don Juico Avenue here at about 1 p.m. Friday last week.
The informant said she monitored the foreigner and the minors and saw them enter a hotel in Malabanias.
A rescue team comprised of cops and social welfare personnel was abruptly organized and proceeded to the hotel where a hotel employee led them to the room where the foreigner was billeted.
The rescue team found one of the girls with only a towel wrapped around her torso.
The girls were later ascertained to be minors and were turned over to the city social welfare office.
The Austrian was arrested and detained at Police Station 4, even as charges of pedophilia were filed against him.
The rescuers also found the suspect with a video camera, but they did not immediately disclose its contents.
