BALER, Aurora — The Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO) is strengthening its role as a destination for defense and security-related investments aimed at generating jobs and expanding economic opportunities in the province.

APECO president and CEO Gil Taway IV met with executives of Anglicotech LLC, a Virginia-based defense supply chain firm, to explore potential investments in strategic logistics, skills development, and high-value employment within the ecozone.

“Our engagement with Anglicotech reflects a shared understanding that defense-related investments require stability, clarity of policy, a long-term view, and good governance. We are strengthening this under APECO’s current reforms,” Taway said.

Anglicotech earlier expressed interest in developing climate-controlled warehouses for regulated goods, alongside drone manufacturing and related facilities in the Aurora ecozone, subject to regulatory and policy requirements.

On Aug. 16, 2025, the firm conducted a site inspection at the APECO economic zone to assess infrastructure readiness, logistics potential, and opportunities for local workforce participation.

Taway said the initiative forms part of its efforts to support responsible defense-related industries through partnerships that generate employment and contribute to sustainable economic growth in the province.

Anglicotech has been operating in Subic since 2024, providing logistics support, command and control systems, cyber and intelligence services, surveillance capabilities, and foreign military sales assistance to the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the United States Department of Defense.

Both APECO and Anglicotech underscored the importance of responsible investment practices, local workforce engagement, and alignment with government development priorities, reinforcing the ecozone’s role in promoting inclusive growth, job generation, and sustainable development in Aurora.
