BALER, Aurora (PIA) — Members of a farmers’ association in Aurora are set to enhance their livelihood after receiving P300,000 in assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The Diamanen Farmers Association, composed of 15 members from Dipaculao town, received the support under the agency’s Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) Program, which promotes peace, resilience, and development in vulnerable communities.
Dipaculao Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) Head Rowena Asan disclosed that the beneficiaries will undergo social preparation activities, including seminars on financial literacy and basic business management, to help ensure project sustainability.
“We also assigned a social worker to monitor the project and coordinated with the Municipal Agriculture Office to provide skills training and technical supervision on livestock production,” Asan furthered.
Under the program, the Diamanen farmers will establish an alternative livelihood through broiler chicken raising.
The initiative is expected to generate additional income for the members’ families and contribute to local economic activity.
Meanwhile, Mayor Danilo Tolentino encouraged the association to strengthen their organization, manage the capital responsibly, and pursue sustainable production for the benefit of the wider community.
The PAMANA Program is one of the government’s interventions aimed at empowering communities through sustainable livelihood opportunities in conflict-affected and vulnerable areas.
Through this, the government seeks to reinforce peace-building efforts while supporting long-term economic growth and social stability in Aurora. (CLJD/MJRD, PIA Region 3-Aurora)
