BALANGA City, Bataan: An auditorium here was named in memory of the late Bataan governor and congressman Enrique “Tet” Garcia, Jr. during his sixth death anniversary Monday.

The turnover of the new BNHS – JHS Enrique “Tet” Garcia Jr. Auditorium was witnessed by
three Garcia children – incoming second district Congressman Albert “Abet” Garcia, incoming Gov. Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III and Balanga City Mayor Francis Garcia.

Abet was former governor while Joet was former congressman of the second district. They
switched positions after finishing their three-year term.

BNHS – JHS stands for Bataan National High School – Junior High School located along the Roman Highway in Balanga City. BNHS is the first public high school in the province.

The auditorium used to be the Magsaysay Gym that was renovated to become a comfortable venue for various activities of the school. The renovation was made possible through the support of the provincial and city governments and the office of the second congressional district.

Witnessing the turnover were Vice Gov. Ma. Crisanta Garcia, BNHS – JHS principal Dr. Alma Poblete, Balanga City schools Superintendent Ronnie Mallari and teachers and students of the public school with some parents.

Abet said the BNHS, former Cayetano Arellano Memorial High School, helped mold his father to become a public servant after serving as a student leader.

Tet served as congressman in the second district from 1987 – 1992 and from 1995 – 2004 or a period of 14 years and as governor for 10 years from 1992 – 1993 and from 2004 – 2013.

He was born on September 13, 1940 and died on June 13, 2016. (30)
