Army community pantry serves villagers

FORT RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Palayan City– Several families have benefitted from a community pantry that was jointly established by the Army, local government and private citizens in Camp Kapitan Berong, Barangay Cavite in the northwestern municipality of Guimba, Nueva Ecija that started Saturday.

The 7th Infantry Division’s 84th Infantry Battalion (84IB) and donors initially prepared 45 kilos of bottle gourd (upo), 60 kilos each of squash and eggplants, 20 kilos each of ampalaya and patola, and one box each of sardines and corned beef, according to the 7ID public information office.

“Sa kabuuan, 75 katao ang inisyal na nabiyayaan ng pagkain mula sa community pantry. Kasalukayan ding naghihimok para sa mga karagdagang donasyon ang pinagsamang pwersa ng kasundaluhan at opisyales ng Barangay Cavite,” the military said.

Barangay Cavite chairman Alfredo Angel said the panty is of great service to his poor constituents.

Major Gen. Alfredo Rosario Jr., 7ID commander, reiterated their commitment to help the people go through the hardship: “Ang inyong Philippine Army ay patuloy na aalalay sa iba’t-ibang kawanggawa na maghahatid ng kaukulang tulong sa bawat Pilipinong nangangailangan. Malalampasan ang krisis na ating kinakaharap kung mamamayani sa ating puso ang pagtulong at pagmamahal sa kapwa Pilipino.
