Army Commanding General Lieutenant General Roy Galido personally witnessed the ceremonial blessing of nine units of ASCOD Sabrah Light Tank, five 6×6 Wheeled Armored Personnel Carrier, and one Tractor Head.

Armor Division Commander Major General Facundo Palafox IV underscored that the additional armored assets strengthened the capability of the Philippine Army in terms of unit preparedness and operational readiness.

“With the acquisition of these light tanks, we invest not only in state-of-the-art technology but also in the safety and welfare of our brave men and women, arming them with the means to defend our country and protect the people,” he said.

“These newly-acquired armored assets demonstrate our dedication to the defense and security of our country. In fact, they represent the tenacity and might of the Philippine Army as well as the entire Armed Forces of the Philippines,” he said.

Armor Division likewise opened its newly-renovated Armor Museum, Mess Hall and new Maintenance Depot.

The new maintenance facility is expected to be of service to various armored vehicles due for repair and maintenance.

“Without a doubt, the Armor Mess Hall will serve as a haven of solace and sustenance, a place where the responsibilities of duty are lessened and the ties of camaraderie are reinforced. In a similar manner, this Armor Museum will undoubtedly serve as a beacon of knowledge and inspiration for future generations,” Palafox explained.
