The SM Foundation Scholarship program will have its final registration on December 31, 2019. For those who are interested, the following guidelines are as follows:

Must be a Grade 12 high school graduate from public schools or private high school graduate with DepEd voucher after completing Grade 10 from public schools in the areas covered:

Luzon: NCR, Albay, Bataan, Batangas, Benguet, Bulacan, Cagayan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Cavite, Isabela, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, Palawan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Sorsogon, Quezon, Rizal, Tarlac, Zambales

Visayas: Capiz, Cebu, Iloilo, Leyte, Negros Occidental

Mindanao: Agusan del Norte, Davao del Sur, Misamis Oriental, South Cotabato, Zamboanga del Sur

A general weighted average grade of at least 88% or its equivalent for Grade 12 – 1st semester

With a total household income of less than or equal to P150,000 per year

The scholarship program covers the following field of studies: Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, and Electronics), Education (Elementary and Secondary); Accountancy, and Financial Management, among others.

To date, the program has already produced 3,300 college scholar-graduates from its inception in 1993. SM scholars who have finished their degrees are now employed and helping their families, some of whom are employed under the SM Group of Companies.

“Founded on Tatang Henry Sy, Sr.’s belief that education is the greatest equalizer, the program aims to provide thousands of Filipino youth the chance for a better future through higher education. Tatang believed that if he could help send one child to school, that child can then help his or her siblings finish schooling and together, they can help uplift their family out of poverty.”(30)
