MABALACAT, Pampanga – A combination of good attitude and superb body makes a winner at the Great Bikini Open sponsored by the Xevera housing project here.
Cheyser Anne Mercado of Barangay Sulipan, Apalit town was the grand winner of the Bikini Open held at the gym of Xevera-Mabalacat on Saturday night. She was also adjudged “most professional” for being punctual and cooperative during the course of the contest.
“Ah, I am so happy because my hard work paid off and I am so tired,” said Mercado, a 19-year-old tourism student at the Central Escolar University in Manila.
Mercado was twice blessed on the same night as she was named Miss El Hombre. The award makes her the official commercial endorser of the new tequilla brand made by Destileria Limtuaco and Co. Inc.
Rosemary Joan Turner of Olongapo City fell short in winning the top prize. The 1st runner-up was given the Best in Casual Wear award.
The other members of the top five are: Elizabeth Naluz of Las Pinas City, 2nd runner-up; Felisa Joy Morales, 3rd runner-up; and Mary Jane Game, 4th runner-up.
Handled by Joel Salvador of the El Salvador group, Mercado won the top prize of P100,000.
Veteran Journalist Sonny Lopez of Sunnyvisions and Xevera developer Delfin Lee said “the contest is not just about having beautiful body but having good attitude as well.” They were the sponsors of the contest.
Lopez said Lee has vowed to create various activities in Xevera not just the Bikini Open. He disclosed that Lee had recently invited World billiards champ Efren Reyes and artist Richard Poon, among others.
Some of judges were Mabalacat Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales, Clark International Airport Corp. Executive Vice President Alex Cauguiran, Angeles City Councilor Maricel Morales, Destileria Limtuaco President Olivia Limpe-Aw and Angeles City-based American businessman Hunter Haynes.
“It was indeed a successful event because many are asking for a repeat in the near future,” said Lopez.
