ANGELES CITY – A friend in need is a friend in deed. “Abe-abe, saup-saup.” City officials here led by Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting distributed some 4,000 packs of relief goods to residents of typhoon-affected San Simon town which remains inundated.
“Most of these relief goods came from Angeleños. We are extending our help to our friends and cabalens in San
Simon who are still under flood waters,” Pamintuan said.
The city government here recently conducted a three-day telethon dubbed as “Lingap King Balen, Saup Kareng Kabalen”. Businessmen and other private companies donated cash, noodles, canned goods, bottled water and other relief items.
San Simon Mayor Leonora Wong thanked the Angeles City government for “lending a helping hand and I’m so happy and thankful to Mayor Ed Pamintuan and the people of Angeles who are thinking of us during these trying
times.”
“Despite being far, you showed that you actually care for our safety and welfare,” Wong said. Pamintuan also vowed to hold medical missions in San Simon to treat those who got sick due to recent rains and flooding.
The mayor told Wong that Angeles University Foundation has pledged to give free medical assistance for San Simon residents. Wong said that most barangays in this town are still flooded and motor boats are being used as means of transportation.
Governor Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda earlier said that six Pampanga towns, which include Candaba, San Luis, Macabebe, Masantol, Apalit and San Simon, have remained flooded.
Former San Simon mayor Digos Canlas, Angeles City Councilor Edu Pamintuan, Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) President Jojo Dimapilis of Angeles, barangay captains of San Simon and other local officials of Angeles City joined the distribution of relief goods.
