Angeles City — The local government unit of Angeles City has announced a new initiative to declutter the city’s streetscape by removing the unpleasing “spaghetti wires” and dangling cables that clutter the main thoroughfares. The move aims to improve the city’s urban aesthetics, enhance public safety, and restore the visual appeal of Angeles as a highly urbanized city.
Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II led the first formal meeting with representatives from the telecommunications companies operating within the city at the confrerence room of the mayor’s office. The gathering was convened to discuss strategies and collaborative efforts toward the systematic removal of disconnected or dead cables that have long marred the city’s skyline.
“In our pursuit to make Angeles City more beautiful and safe for Angeleños and visitors, we recognize the urgent need to address the visual pollution caused by these tangled wires,” Mayor Jon Lazatin stated during the meeting. “Our goal is to organize a comprehensive plan to clean the aerial view and improve the overall ambiance of our city.”
The meeting was attended by Vice Mayor Amos Rivera and the city councilors, including Alex Indiongco, Niknok Bañola, Edu Pamintuan, Pogs Suller, Marang Morales, Ron Pineda, Jeselle Dayrit, Michelle Bonifacio, Raco Del Rosario, and JC Aguas. Also present were LNB President Dan Nacu and SK President Richard Gaza.
Representatives from the telecommunications sector expressed their support for the project, highlighting ongoing efforts to streamline cable management and underground wiring.
The Angeles city government plans to formulate a phased approach, starting with the main thoroughfares with the most congested and visually cluttered areas, prioritizing safety and minimizing disruption to residents and businesses.
The LGU is set to draft a detailed action plan over the coming weeks, with consultations and stakeholder meetings to ensure transparency and inclusivity.
As Angeles City moves forward with this endeavor, Angeleños and visitors alike can look forward to a clearer, more picturesque or instagrammable cityscape that reflects its status as a premier destination in Central Luzon.
